From what I read, Fever 1793 was spot on about how terrible this plague really was. Some people think it was just something small like a little bug or virus but it really hit hard on a lot of people. With it originating in Philidalphia, Dr. Rush was the leading physician. It sounded like a terrible disease and i think it cause A LOT of pain for everyone who had it. Being in that era of time, they were not as modern as we are today. They did not have the same healing and progressive medicine we have today so it must have been very hard for them to cope.

Yellow Fever is even worse than I imagined. Imagine vomiting blood, then going insane, (when they went insane they sometimes commited suicide) and return to sanity just to die three hours later. Also, Yellow Fever killed over one tenth of the Philadelphia population. Another thing that is terrible about this disease is that in August(1793), about ten people died per day, but by October, about 100 people died per day. I think that it is terrible that one virus can cause so many families so much pain. (emotional and physical) Just thinking about all of the terrible things that happened that summer and fall makes me want to go back and change it all with our modern technology. (or go to Africa where Yellow Fever still exists and help the people) Another thing that was awful was that the doctors were so clueless, they tried some wacky things to try to cure and soothe the pain. This has really changed my take on Yellow Fever. Before, I thought it was bad, but not so bad it would wipe out 4,000 people!!!! Imagine 4,000 people going through the pain of the symtoms in the article. Just think about it.

I thought it was interesting that so many people died and went into the country because there were so many people in the state and when Yellow Fever came there was barely anyone left in the city. Also, I thought it was interesting that Dr. Rush worked so hard and his work only helped some people.

I think that the time of yellow Fever was so good That they did not have chance. The doctors did not now how to stop it so doctor Kerr said that they should lave the city.In 1796 over 4,000 people death from yellow fever. there was a drought then So they had a lot of bugs in that.I think they should of sent them back.

This sounded pretty close to the book. Doctor Rush was a real person and was a doctor. The doctors helped a small amount of people but they were risking their lives to try to help people get over the Yellow Fever. The best advice they could give you was to get away and stay away from large cities. Also if you are having weird symptoms stay inside, eat, sleep, and don't be by kids or people. This article really showed how bad the fever is and was.

I thought that it was amazing that a town so populated could just have so many people just get up and leave I thought that Dr. Rush was really trying hard and it just didn't work that would make me very angry but he just kept his cool he was just so focused on helping people.

As many as you said, it is amazing how many people died. In October !00 people died daily, that is a lot and very sad. Like Izzy said Dr. Rush, being a real person, really tried his best to help victims of The Yellow Fever. Even though Dr. Rush failed we all know he tried his best.

With a big city like philidelphia with a population of 55,000 and that year they lost more than 2,000 people that's very sad. Also that yellow fever is mostly carried by Mosquitos is amazing how many people caught it. If you think about how many mosquitos we have here in the summer, you can just imagine a place with one of the biggest ports and a place where it's hot and dry how many Mosquitos are there. With izzy and trista I do agree that Dr.Rush he did try his best even though he failed.

I did not know that the man producer of Yellow fever was from Moskitos. I think that even though Dr rush failed he is still a brave man to even go out side let alone go to sick peoples houses and try to save them. PA is a hot area and would freeze very late I can see why this horrible fever started.

yellow fever from what i read in the article and the book is that it was one of the worst viruses of the century. A lot more people died from the fever than i expected. I thought it was only going to be around a thousand but it was twice that much. I find it interesting that there were that many people lived in Philidelphia back than. I think it's weird that Yellow fever originated in The carrabean and that the refugees brought it over to the united states

I learned that the mosquitoes had the disease because they bit the diseased refuges. Almost everyone died or fled. Even President Washington fled

For one viruses to wipe out Philidelphia is amazing. Alot of people died from yellow fever the farmers fled town but people who didn't have enough money or didn't want to stayed and died. Only few people who stayed lived and they lived because they had family members or friends who cared for them.
